Roister Game Jam Vol. 2

The very own jam of Rovaniemi, Roister Game Jam is arranged for the second time! Jams are events where games are made in teams or alone from plan to a playable version in just two days. You don’t need any experience in game developing to attend – the idea is to go crazy and learn from other jammers! Failure is also okay and there’s no competition between the jammers. We have also reserved a sauna for the jammers for the weekend.

Greetings all members of IGDA Finland association!

You are warmly welcome to join the statutory annual meeting of IGDA Finland ry. The meeting will be held on Thursday, 17th of May, 2018, from 6 PM until 7 PM, at Business Meeting Park Forum (Forum Mall, Glass Corner entrance, Mannerheimintie 20 B, 00100 Helsinki, meeting room MARSKI 2). It is also possible to participate virtually via Google Hangouts.

The main purpose of this meeting is to go over our actions and accept our financial accounts for 2017 but it’s also a good moment to discuss the big picture of IGDA Finland with the current board of directors. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Welcome to the GamiFIN 2018 and IGDA Satakunta co-hosted welcoming reception/networking event. This event celebrates the beginning of the 2nd GamiFIN conference that promotes academic research in the field of gamification and is currently the largest academic event for gamification in Finland. The event will be co-hosted with the local game development community, IGDA Satakunta, who will present the local expertise on game development and gamified solutions.

The event is free entry, and will be hosted at the Sofia Restaurant at the University Consortium of Pori. Among the casual networking you will be able to test out demos and prototypes of current and upcoming projects from the local game dev scene.

Creating a new category of multiplayer games by launching as early as possible

We are shifting in a new gear this year at Futureplay Games and focusing on creating a new category of casual but competitive multiplayer games, blending the world of .io games and MOBAs and battle royale games into Multiplayer Online Casual Competitive Arena games -  MOCCA as we call them. And we do this openly by launching super early. We will explain how and why we do it.

About the speaker
Jami Laes has been working in mobile games since 2000 and overseeing well over 200 launches on numerous platforms and business models. Over the years he has built and managed studios globally at small and large companies such as Sumea, Digital Chocolate, Playfish, EA and Rovio. In 2015 he finally co-founded Futureplay Games and they have seen rapid success with their first four View-to-Play games and two new soft launches.

Jari-Pekka Kaleva
As the COO of European Games Developer Federation (EGDF), Jari-Pekka closely follows European politics from the perspective of the European games industry. He is also the senior policy analyst at Neogames, the hub for the Finnish games industry, striving to accelerate, coordinate and support the development of the Finnish game cluster.

Petri Hyökyranta
Petri leads Rovio’s Technology Unit, which has the sole purpose of serving game teams enabling them to focus on game development. The unit provides services such as analytics, cross-promo and ads, build tools, etc. Recently he and the team have been busy interpreting how to best implement the GDPR requirements into games.

Kaisa Salakka
Kaisa works as Product Director at Unity heading a product management and design team and being responsible for the product strategy, roadmap, feature planning and delivery for one of the fastest growing monetisation platforms in the world. Her areas of expertise include machine learning, ad tech and games analytics.
