Ovelin, a company behind the widely-praised, award winning WildChords is yet another success from Finland. Ovelin got €1.1M seed funding from True Ventures in February 2012 enabling them to develop Wildchords further. Besides Wildchords, Ovelin is working on other ways to make world more musical. It surely is quite an achievement not only to make it in the competition but to innovate and create an original product, too. Ovelin is going full speed ahead with Wildchords and the next products. IGDA Finland April party is a fantastic opportunity for you all to see what the future holds for Ovelin. You'll have a chance to try Wildchords if you haven't already. Also if you dream of being a part of the success story, better be at Cuba on 3rd of April and meet the team behind Wildchords!

BAM! BAM! On 13th of March Gangs of Boomtown will occupy Cuba bar. So get ready for some serious saloon brawling, spineless townspeople, the evil villains, unbribable sheriff and the duel to end it all!

What happening on Tuesday?

Drink tickets and Gangs of Boomtown soundtrack for first 200!

7PM door are open and DJs start to play 8.30PM Presentation; Digital Chocolate and Google 9.30PM live Country Music!

Digital Chocolate's Gangs of Boomtown release party will take place at the IGDA Finland March Gathering. We will have wild west action packed evening! The team behind the game will be present along with some sheriffs and cowboys. Digital Chocolate sponsors a couple of rounds of drinks and there is a band playing country music! Whohoo! Surely an evening not to be missed!

Play the game on Google+: Gangs of Boomtown. The dawn is also just breaking for Google+ as a gaming platform. Digital Chocolate and Google will share early settler experiences on how to round gamers into your circles on Google+.

It's time for us to gather around in the lovely Cuba Bar and talk about life and stuff. And games! The year started with a bang and thank you to everyone for making it possible. Let's continue that way!

As most of you might know, last weekend a bunch of hard-working people participated in the Global Game Jam and gathered all around Finland to create cool games in just 48 hours! If you haven't seen those games yet (and even if you have) come to Cuba next Tuesday to take a look.

We'll also be announcing the winners of Finnish Game Jam 2012. So don't miss this!

It's time for us to gather around in the lovely Cuba Bar and talk about life and stuff. And games! The year started with a bang and thank you to everyone for making it possible. Let's continue that way! As most of you might know, last weekend a bunch of hard-working people participated in the Global Game Jam and gathered all around Finland to create cool games in just 48 hours! IGDA Finland & Unity special

New year started with a Unity Special on 10th of January. We organized IGDA Finland Presentations event focusing on Unity and IGDA Finland Gathering at Cuba bar was sponsored by Unity and Umbra. We have had more and more people attending both IGDA Finland Gatherings and Presentations events. Thus we are looking for bigger venues for the events. If you attended IGDA Finland Presentations event in January and would like to share your opinion about the venue, we are all ears.

At the IGDA Finland Presentations: Unity Special! we had Unity Evangelist Carl Callewaert & Sales Director Nick Jovic giving a hands on presentation of Unity. Next speakers were Sampo Lappalainen and Thomas Puha from Umbra, Finnish company specializing in rendering optimization middleware. Their presentation discussed what Umbra's technology is and does and what kind benefits it offers. A version of Umbra's technology is integrated into Unity. Thomas and Sampo gave some best practice advice on how to best take advantage of Umbra's occlusion culling in Unity. Arto Koistinen from Dicework Games shared his tips and tricks and Damien Morello (Recoil Games / Colossal Order) shared lessons learned from Rochard project. Fantastic presentations! On top of all we had a special guest star Julie Heyde from Bandello. They focus on assisting independent developers from all corners of the video game industry, providing insight and know-how in the go-to-market process. If you are indie developer and need marketing help, talk to Julie.
