Ahjo mingle on 15th March for women in games

Finnish game industry is on the threshold of hyper growth. Mentor network for women interested in game industry positions arranges Ahjo mingle on 15th March, from 6-8PM. Tia Mäki from boutique sized law firm Aldea will give a talk followed by comment from Supercell. After the talks we'll chat about open positions in games, what's needed for various positions, what's the atmosphere in game studios, what about compensations etc. After the talks it is time to mingle and network! Welcome ladies! Game industry needs you!

IGDA Finland is organizing Insider's Insights - The Gaming Industry event with Aalto Entrepreneur society. The event is targeted at students but you are all welcome to join. Where: Aalto Venture Garage, Otaniemi Espoo When: 26th (see Link for details)

This is your change to put up a stand for FREE (!), make your game studio more known and/or do some recruitment! After presentations we'll do mingle with game devs. We offer a possibility to put up a stand. All you need is to bring your laptop, game, extension cord, roll up... that's all! Aalto Venture Garage:lla on kaikille valmiina pöytä, tarvittava määrä tuoleja, langaton verkko ja sähköpistoke. Esittelyständien ei tarvitse olla monimutkaisia siihen riittää vaikkapa: - Rollup juliste - Läppäri / iPad / kännykkä tai muu laite jossa peliänne voi demota - Oma jatkojohto varalle mukaan, etenkin jos tarvitsee sähköä useammalle kuin yhdelle laitteelle. Toki muutakin rekvisiittaa voi olla, mutta esimerkiksi flätti näyttöjä tai TV:eitä ei ole tarjolla kaikille jotenkin nämäkin tuodaan itse jos niitä tarvitaan.

*** YLE Teema ja IGDA Finland kutsuvat teidät seuraamaan Pelinrakentajat dokumenttifilmin ekslusiivista ennakkoesitystä. Päivämäärä on 18. tammikuuta, kello 19. suomalaiset pelikehittäjät ovat lämpimästi tervetulleita Andorraan, Eerikinkatu 11 (alakerta).

Pelinrakentajat on YLE Teeman peli-illan avaava dokumentti. Suomalaisesta pelintekemisestä kertova tarina lähtee 90-luvun alun demoscenestä ja kulkee suurien konsolipelien ja pienempien kännykkäpelien kautta aina tähän päivään. Ennen kaikkea siitä tinkimättömyydestä ja intohimosta, minkä avulla Suomen peliteollisuus on noussut 20 vuodessa lähes tyhjästä merkittäväksi teollisuudenhaaraksi.

IGDA Finland does good!

IGDA Finland team attended Gayla charity bowling event at Tali last week! Special thanks to super IGDA-team Vesku, Tipi & Sonja! We did great, were the grooviest team and got all the way to semi-finals!

IGDA Finland is also partnering game development course for 15-25 year olds at Pelitalo which is located on the 2nd floor of Happi youth house (Nuorisotalo). If you are 15-25 year old, live in Helsinki area or nearby and would like to develop digital games but don't know how -- this is our chance!

Pelisuunnitteluklubi Onko kipinää pelien suunnitteluun, mutta ei riittävästi tietoa tai oikeita kavereita hommaan? Tule suunnittelemaan ja kehittämään pelejä ammattilaisten johdolla. Sinun ei tarvitse olla itseoppinut osaaja, kunhan olet kiinnostunut hommasta ja innokas tekemään. Klubissa lähdetään tutustumaan pelisuunnitteluun kevyesti valmiita työkaluja hyväksi käyttäen. Ohjelmassa käydään läpi kattavasti koko pelinkehitysprosessi suunnittelusta toteutukseen ja tuottamiseen. Meillä ei tarvitse pönöttää tai pelkästään koodata, vaan kaikki tapahtuu innostavassa ilmapiirissä, kevyellä otteella.

Klubi aloittaa toimintansa kesäkuun kestävällä kurssilla.

IGDA Finland Presentations! Funding and Investments

After such a great October Gathering it would only be fitting for us to follow up with an event even greater. For that reason we are pleased to announce IGDA Finland Presentations: Funding and Investments in the Video Game Industry. THE EVENT IS FULL! LIVE VIDEO STREAM WILL BE AVAILABLE! Taking place at Sulake Auditorium (click for map) the presentation focuses on the industry's funding instruments, valuation, connections between product volume vs. hit products, new avenues for success outside of the video game industry and why certain companies receive funding and others do not. Each speaker will have a case study highlighting one of these areas.

This event is sure to be extremely informational for anyone involved in the gaming industry so quick book your seat through the IGDA Finland Facebook page as there are only 100 places available. If you don't use Facebook, send an email to sonja [.] kangas [@] igda [.] fi if you want to join the event. We will close the registration when we have 100 names on the list. Maybe list at the Facebook doesn't count.
